This is a book that portrays the 21st century Christian woman in a way that we can all relate with.
 Kemi Smith is a new convert who is trying to stay on track with God, be a successful career woman and is also trying to get over her feelings for her ex boyfriend, Zack.
Some days she's fired up with zeal for Christ but when it comes to Zack, she compromises her faith. 

It is a great read with so many lessons on life, love and friendship.

You will be required to manage members of an International organisation’s Child Protection Emergency Response Personnel team and, together with a second Humanitarian Child Protection Adviser and the Senior Humanitarian Child Protection Advisor, will form a Humanitarian Child Protection Team. 

The Humanitarian Child Protection team’s principal focus is providing technical support to humanitarian programmes. The team will also be working closely with child protection colleagues across the wider organisation. The Humanitarian CP team will play a central role in achieving the organisational child protection ‘breakthrough’ in improving the care situation of vulnerable children, including through supporting their Key Humanitarian Approach in working with unaccompanied and separated children in emergencies.

Are you a highly motivated young person between the age bracket of 18-25 and you are very passionate about educational issues, we suggest you apply to an innovative international program. 

The program brings together the all-important voices of students all over the world, to the task of rethinking education. The Program is designed to build the participants’ knowledge of education as well as their communication, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to enable them to take on leading roles in their fields and in the world of education.

The participants selected in 2013 are currently taking part in a year-long Program that combines online sessions, lectures and workshops, as well as group work on projects intended to address pressing issues through innovative solutions. They are also being heard at a number of international conferences and will play a key role at the 2014 Summit.

This year’s application will run until June.  The selected group will be invited to an international Summit in November, as well as to a pre-Summit workshop.  The Foundation organising this program will cover all fares and accommodation costs for the selected participants.

Do you know what sloth means? What readily comes to mind is the synonym for sloth which is lazy. But do you know there is an animal called sloth?

......what type of animal it is? Arboreal mammal

.....what it feeds on? It feeds on leaves and fruits, buds, young twigs and any other food that is light because of it's slow metabolism due to the fact that it is hardly active. 

.....how to identify them? Most sloths are about the size of a dog. They have short flat head, long arms and huge hook like claws. Some are two-toed while others are three toed. They have grayish brown hair. Due to how slowly they move, tiny camouflaging algae grow all over their coats making them look greyish green in color.

......how they are attributed? Sleepiest of all creatures – they can sleep for up to eighteen (18) hours at a time and they are extremely slow-moving. Infact, some stay on a particular tree for as long as thirty (30) years.

......where it is majorly found? Rainforest canopies of South and Central America

.....how they are mostly seen? They usually hang from branches back downward.

So the next time you hear "you are slothful", you know it’s not just a synonym for lazy but it’s also the name of an animal that is very very very slow!

Night animals by Claire Llewellyn

Night animals is a picture book with few words. It's highly recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 7. Children learn about what night animals are, examples of night animals like the kiwi and bat and the characteristics unique to each. The book contains very colourful pictures of these animals and it is written in simple words. You can read it along with your children so that you could help to put more life to it. There will be something new for you to learn too.

Star girl by Jerry Spinelli

Recommended for children between the ages of 12 to 18, this 192 paged book will always be our all time favourite. It is a story of a young girl (Stargirl Caraway) who chooses to be different. Although her peers see her as being odd, they silently wish to be like her.  According to Amazon reviews, “Spinelli's Stargirl is a supernatural teen character--absolutely egoless, altruistic, in touch with life's primitive rhythms, meditative, untouched by popular culture, and supremely self-confident”. It’s a book every tween and teen should read especially in this era where what is wrong is considered popular and where everyone is pushed to conform to popular culture.

Echoes of a heart beat by Lilian Amah

Age bracket: 18 and above. With a blend of murder, romance and full of suspense, the story revolves around the main character, Kehinde Lawson. The problem started when she got involved with her former lover, Derrick Williams who treated her unfairly. She later finds true love with Dr Femi Taylor and while everything seemed to be falling in place, Dr Femi is murdered in a car accident. Kehinde decides to pick up the pieces of her life by doing what Femi would have wanted her to do – to go into an acting career she had always loved.

Lilian Amah tells the story in very easy to understand and captivating language. There are several lessons one could pick from it including the fact that we must be willing to hope again even after a tragedy and try to make the best out of our lives. It is a 117 paged book, not too long for a neophyte reader.
